Halo Wars is a Xbox 360 exclusive sci-fi real time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios, the now closed subsidiary of Microsoft Game Studios which is the publisher of this game. The game has been released on February 26, 2009 in Japan and just today March 3 in North America. Halo Wars free download is available which was made available in the form of demo on the XBox live marketplace on February 5.

Well talking about the game plot setting, Halo Wars is set in the same Halo Universe where previous games of the franchise took place. The events of this game begins in the year 2531, 20 years after the events of Halo: Combat Evolved.
