FIFA 09 is going to be the latest installment in the FIFA soccer series of video games produced by EA Sports, a sports games division of Electronic Arts. It will be the 16th installment in the main series and the successor to FIFA 08. The game will be releasing on October 14, 2008 in North America whereas European and Australian release will be around 10 days before the American release. FIFA 09 is ready to be launched for PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Nintendo Wii, DS, Xbox 360 and mobile phones. FIFA 09 demo for PC has just been released today. However its full version will be made available for download on its official release.

FIFA 09 like its predecessor can be played in both single player and multiplayer online versions. Over 250 improvements have been done in the game over FIFA 08. Some of the improved features of the game are it takes less processing time, instant football release, improved collision system, better goalkeeper positioning, better reactions from players, improved player performance etc. Now in FIFA 09, player can also switch weather conditions before the start of the play and now you can play the game during day, night and even dusk. Animations in the FIFA 09 are also highly improved over the predecessor.

But it is absolutely wrong to say it as an improved version of the FIFA 08. I know many will criticize it for the words said but when you play the FIFA 09 yourself; you will come to know how the game is so special for football lovers. The graphics that you see in the game are never seen before by you in any sports genre game. Though the graphics in FIFA 09 PC version are excellent but those in PlayStation 3 are marvelous. The game also includes something similar to EUFA Euro 2008 football game. It has similar user controlled player celebrations feature introduced for the first time in the series. A unique feature introduced in the FIFA 09 is “10 vs. 10" match. All the stadiums and crowds featuring the game will be geographically targeted. There 15 new stadiums included in the game.
