Grand Theft Auto 3 is an action-adventure video game by RockStar that set many of the records to its name after it was released. It is one of the most successful games on PS2 in history. It was third installment in the Grand Theft Auto series but the first to be available in a 3D view. Grand Theft Auto 3 was released on Windows, PS2 and Xbox for single player play only. It has won several Games of the Year awards from Gamespot, IGN and GameSpy. IGN had awarded it with Best Action Game of 2001 award. It was the number 1 selling game in USA in 2001.

Grand theft Auto 3 became famous soon as it supports best gameplay ever and also because it was priced very generously. This game like other games of the series is set in fictional Liberty city where crime is at its peak. The role played by the player is nameless criminal who has been deceived by his girlfriend in a Liberty City Bank robbery. After being deceived and tailed by laws, character decides to confront her but in a different way by reaching the crime heights. Grand Theft Auto 3 is not only action adventure oriented game but it also has elements of third person shooters and racing games.

Although gameplay of Grand Theft Auto 3 is similar to previous games of the series yet it was packed with much more elements to be offered. Player’s characters are given unlimited number of lives unlike previous games. Also if the player is injured or arrested, he can re-spawns at the hospital or police station respectively. The game is full of drama as is seen in any bollywood movie. Many other features were added to the Grand Theft Auto 3 like 24 hour clock, carjacking, city map, improved health levels, radio stations etc. However, the game missed the multiplayer mode from previous games. The game progresses in the form of missions with defined objectives.
