Age of Mythology or AOM is a mythic real time strategy based video game based on the Age of Empires game series. The game was developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It is a PC video game released on 30 October, 2002 in North America and on 11 November, 2002 i.e. two weeks later in European countries. Age of Mythology can be played in both single player and multiplayer modes and the game requires very low system requirements. Rather than focusing on historical events as in Age of empires series, Age of Mythology is based on myths of Egyptians, Norse and Greeks. This is really-really very good game to play.

The gameplay is similar to Age of Empires but it is more legendry. Also unlike Age of empires, this game is played in the form of missions under one single campaign. Until the current mission is completed player can’t move on to the next one as is in AOE. There are in total 29 stages in the game. It includes all the elements of a real time strategy video games like gathering resources, building towns, forming units and defeating enemies. There are four ages through which player advances: Archaic, Classical, Heroic and Mythic. Along with real person units, there are mythic units in the game. These units have super natural powers using which they can destroy anything coming there way.

Player can choose to play any of the three civilizations: Egyptian, Norse and Greeks in the game. Every civilization has its own major Gods who grant them abilities to build communities and defeat enemies. Just like AOE, Age of Mythology also relies upon four major elements: food, wood, gold and favor. Favor is something new to the game and if granted by Gods can bring civilization immense health and wealth. There is also a marketplace where civilizations can trade resources. There is every type of building in Age of Mythology from economic to military to defensive structures.
