It is the next release in the Brian Lara Cricket games series after Brian Lara International Cricket 2005. The game is endorsed by Brian Lara. It was released on 23 March, 2007 during the events of World Cup 2007. The game was released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Windows, and mobile platforms. Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 was released under different titles in Australia and India. The game can be played in single player mode or in multiplayer mode.

Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 (BLIC 07) gameplay is almost similar to its predecessor but the events in the game are fairly new. Player can opt to play on the nets i.e. practice session, or can play against other teams in various international events. In Brian Lara International Cricket 2007, players can play One Day Internationals, Test Matches, Champions Trophy and even World Cup. Twenty-Twenty matches are not included in the game as they were launched after the release of the game. Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 contains 16 playable tutorial min games.

This is the first cricket oriented game to include online play. Not all players in the Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 are named as real. This is because of the licensing owned by Electronic Arts. Codemasters has included names of those real players for which it has owned a license. As in real cricket games, Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 (BLIC 07) also provides in game commentary offered by real commentators. Codemasters also released an updated game patch for Xbox Live.
