Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts is a 2007 real time strategy game expansion pack designed by Josh Mosqueira. The game was developed by Relic Entertainment and is being published by THQ. It is a standalone expansion pack to Company of Heroes, a popular real time strategy game for Microsoft Windows. Opposing Fronts too is available on Microsoft Windows only. In North America, it was released on 24 September, 2007 and in Europe, it was released on 28 September, 2007. Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts can be played either single player mode or multiplayer mode. The game is commonly abbreviated to as COH: OF or simply Opposing Fronts.

The plot for the game is set in the Europe of World War 2. Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts had included two new single player campaigns: Liberation of Caen and Operation Market Garden in context to British and German Forces respectively. There is a real time weather system called dynamic weather effect system in the Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts. In Operation Market Garden campaign, there are eight playable missions. There are only two playable factions in the game: British 2nd Army and German Panzer Elite. Both of these factions have their own units and access to the weapons.

Best thing about the Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts expansion pack is that it is a standalone application i.e. you don’t require Company of Heroes to play the game. The game can be played alone with the original version. However, players can play original game too within this. So this way the game allows players to bring more factions to the Opposing Fronts though explicitly. However you must have Company of Heroes installed for that feature to take place. The multiplayer version can’t be played on the slower internet connection and is also a difficult too. Several errors have also been reported in the multiplayer mode. Though patches were released but they proved to be difficult for the players.
