Grand Theft Auto 4 or GTA 4, whatever you call it, is the latest addition to the GTA games series. It is the sand-box style action adventure game developed by Rockstar Games and distributed by Take Two Interactive. GTA 4 is the ninth game in the Grand Theft Auto series of games. The game is released on 29 April, 2008. Grand Theft Auto 4 is available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Sorry, but GTA 4 is not yet developed for PC. The plot for Grand Theft Auto 4 is set in the re-designed Liberty City, the fictional city based on the New York City and New Jersey. However, unlike GTA: Liberty Stories, Grand Theft Auto 4 does not contain any wide sand deserts and dead spots. The story revolves around the character Niko Bellic who is being called to Liberty City by his cousin Roman to fulfill “American Dream”. Then the Grand Theft Auto 4’s complete story revolves around the head and foot of the Niko and Roman. As compared to GTA San Andreas, the game has lesser area but the details are far more than San Andreas.

Grand Theft Auto 4 has many new changes made to the plot of Liberty City. Brighton Beach is renamed as Hove Beach, Coney Island as Firefly Island, Central Park as Middle Park, and Statue of Happiness for Statue of Liberty etc. Grand Theft Auto 4 has only initial load screen and no other load screen in the game unlike previous GTA games. Missions in GTA 4 are explorable where as in older GTA games missions were fixed. Even the player movements in Grand Theft Auto 4 are more realistic. These are some of the changes that are newly included in the game.

In Grand Theft Auto 4, Niko can perform many new actions such as flirting women, climbing poles, bumping people, escaping fire etc. The game features multiple active missions that can be played over days. Mobile phone use is also dynamic in the Grand Theft Auto 4. Police chases are shown different way. There are five different camera angles that player can view from. The combat system seems to be more natural just like Gears of War and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. In Grand Theft Auto 4, Niko’s attire can also be changed. Niko can also communicate using Internet. Streets are named. When in police car, Niko can strike at car computer to access all the criminal database of Liberty City.

Grand Theft Auto 4multiplayer version will feature 15 modes, each with diverse number of players. Density of Pedestrians, types of vehicles, traffic volume, presence of weapons and police can be controlled by host itself. Pedestrians are more realistic in the game as compared to previous GTA games. You can also customize your character completely in the Grand Theft Auto 4. Maps in the single player version and multiplayer version are same. The Xbox 360 version features episodic content that had been announced by Rockstar. Grand Theft Auto 4 soundtrack is modern and original created by Philip Glass.

Grand Theft Auto 4: Special Edition would also be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by Rockstar. The special edition was announced on 21 May, 2007. There are many controversies associated with the GTA 4.
