Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 is the 9th game in the Need for Speed series of racing games. It was released in 2 October, 2002 by EA Games. NFS Hot Pursuits 2 is the first game to be released on the EA Black Box. It is developed on the same game engine as used by the Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. Hot Pursuit 2 is available for Windows, Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 offers two playing modes namely single player and multiplayer modes. It is the first game to be released for the sixth generation video gaming consoles.

In this version of Need for speed, players can play the role of police and can arrest illegal racers. Players can use lot of methods to catch the speedsters such as ramming, assistance, using spikes etc. Players love the gameplay of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2. Also the gameplay is less realistic than earlier version of the game. The game lacks different camera views. Only driver angle view is available in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2. Race takes place in four varying milieus with all having dissimilar atmospheres. For example, the Hawaii environment is the most varied. Race goes through city, volcano, villages, forest and waterfall.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 is highly customizable. Its single player version can host a race of up to 8 cars. Many game modes like sprint, time trial, tournament and knockout etc are available in the game. You can also go for the free run around any unlocked track in the NFS Hot Pursuit 2. This free run mode does not include any cop chase. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 multiplayer version can be hosted on the LAN or Internet for the shared play. Servers could also be located using Game Spy search function.
