Civilization 4 or CiV4 is a turn based strategy game developed by Sid Meier’s Firaxis Games. It is marketed by Aspyr Media and 2K Games. Civilization IV was released on October 25, 2005 for Windows and its Mac version was released on June 30, 2006. Actually Civilization 4 is developed by Soren Johnson under the guidance of Sid Meier. It is the fourth installment in Civilization series of video games. Civilization 4 free download is available for Windows and Mac only. Both single player and multi player versions of Civilization 4 for free are available for download.

Civilization 4 gameplay is set in the 4000 B.C. in which the player needs to be build the empire from the scratch. Then the player moves on to nearby lands, defeating rivals, creating infrastructures, developing scientific and research wings. The prime aim to play Civilization 4 is to build communities, conquer communities and destroy communities. Each Civilization has its own leader, at least one. Thus it is very much similar to Age of Empires and Imperium Galactica. Just like Age of Empires and Imperium Galactica 2, in Civilization 4, player wins if he accompanies any of the five goals that are predefined.

Players can trade goods and other products with one another through diplomatic relations in Civilization 4. Players can also upgrade their units. There are in total 41 combat promotions in the game. Civilization 4 features 32 resource types that are used in different works in like construction, production, happiness, money etc. Players can trade with any civilization they have diplomacy with.

Civilization 4 supports large number of languages. It has been released in English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese, Polish and Italian. Civilization 4 multiplayer version is different from single player version. Players can’t rely upon their diplomats even. So in fact, civilizations never reach modern era in multiplayer versions. Users can customize the game data which is stored in the XML sheet. Software development kit of Civilization IV was also released in 2006 using which players can modify the complete source and AI techniques.
