Need For Speed Underground 2 was released by Electronic Arts (EA) in 2004. It is a part of need for speed series games and is a sequel to Need for Speed Underground. NFS Underground 2 is developed by EA Black Box and published by EA for almost all popular platforms including Playstation 2, GameCube, Xbox, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and Windows PC platforms of that time.

Need for Speed Underground 2 is a multiplatform racing game. It provides several new features when compared to Need for Speed Underground. The storyline is similar to that of previous Need for Speed Underground game i.e. tuning the cars for street racing. It explores many new elements like broader customization, new scheme of selecting races and the explore mode just as provided in Grand Theft Auto. Need for Speed Underground 2 also includes SUVs which a player can tailor to race against other SUVs.

The game starts at BayView. Prelude begins with player coming driving Nissan Skyline GTR in the Olympic city. The race starts despite the warnings to find the person to be trapped by a mysterious driver in a rage that totals his Skyline.

Four new racing modes are introduced in Need for Speed Underground 2, in addition to four racing modes of Need for Speed Underground. These NFS Underground II modes are Circuit, Sprint, Drag, and Drift. There are many other modes like SUV, Outrun, street X, URL too in the game.

Need for Speed Underground 2 has very good selling record. Already almost 9 million copies of the game have been sold and the game is still in the market. Even though many new versions like Need for Speed Most Wanted, Carbon, Pro Street etc have been launched, but Need for speed Underground 2 is still the first choice of many.

Need for Speed Underground 2 also have online multiplayer capability but is not for Windows versions. At that time, Underground 2 was the only game to offer SUVs race in the games series.
