Tom Clancy Splinter Cell: Double Agent is also developed and published by Ubisoft. This is the fourth game released after Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory in the splinter cell series of games by Ubisoft. Just like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Splinter Cell: double agent is also written by Tom Clancy. The game is very much similar to Chaos Theory and follows the same character Sam fisher. Sam Fisher is exposed to work for two investigating agencies NSA, and JBA thus acting as a double agent.

The Windows based PC version of the Splinter Cell: double Agent was released on November 7, 2006 where as versions for Xbox, PlayStation etc were release earlier on October 26, 2006. The game was originally set to be released in March, but because of its long development time, Ubisoft released the Splinter Cell: Double Agent in September. There are two separate versions of the Tom Clancy’s Double Agent. One version was developed by UbiSoft Shanghai, and the other one by UbiSoft Montreal.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent’s Windows based PC, Xbox 360 and Play station 3 version is built on completely customized engine while the versions for Xbox, Play station and GameCube are much like Classic Splinter Cell games. Much like other games of the Splinter Cell series, Splinter Cell: Double Agent has the same general plot but shares different storyline, twists and styles. Even they have the same background music.

Some of the important features introduced in Splinter Cell: Double Agent is two alternate single player missions, daylight missions, and three-state stealth meter i.e. hidden, exposed and alert. The PlayStation version of the Double agent also features female Splinter Cell. Many new and advanced types of equipment like wrist computer, flash bang grenade, night vision goggles are also incorporated in the Splinter Cell: Double Agent.
