Counter Strike is a remake of popular Half Life. Counter Strike is a tactical first person shooter game. It was being modified from Half Life by Minh Gooseman Le and Jess Cliffe. Team of counter terrorists is pits against team of terrorists in a series of rounds in a Counter Strike 1.6. The game is developed on GoldSrc engine that was also used in Half Life. Actually all the features of Half Life are incarnated in it.

It has been developed by Valve Software in collaboration with original developers of the game. It is being marketed by Vivendi Universal Games for windows based PC and by Microsoft corporation for Xbox. Counter Strike 1.6 can be played in both ways; either single-player or multi-player using Steam. Actually the online version was played using WON gaming service but that was shut down in 2004 thus directing players to Steam.

Counter Strike 1.6 gives two options to the players; either join terrorists team or join counter-terrorists team. Team completing the missions first or eliminating the opponents after going through series of rounds is winner. Game stats are shown on scoreboard.
