Counter Strike: Source is the remake of Counter Strike which was released in 1999. Well Counter Strike was also the remake of Half Life. Counter Strike Source was released along with Half Life 2 in 2004. Valve Corporation and Turtle Rock Studios are behind the development of Counter Strike: Source. Valve Corporation is also the publisher of Counter Strike: Source. The game is also known as CS: Source or simply CS: S. It is built on the Source Engine. This is also the reason for naming it as Counter Strike: Source.

Similar to original counter strike, counter strike: source is also based on fighting with terrorists, ditching counter-terrorists against terrorists and winning various rounds after defeating them.

Counter Strike: Source was taken as a multiplayer component for Half-Life 2. Before its final release on 7 October, 2004, Counter Strike: Source was early available for cyber-café owners and then a week later for beta-testers. Many bugs were removed, and several updates and patches were made to the Counter Strike: Source by the time of its final release in October, 2004. Post to that many more updates and patches have been delivered for the game.

Along with many changes and updates made to Counter Strike: Source, its game play has also been changed from the original counter strike. Most obvious changes in CS:Source are dynamic weapon pricing and new radar system.

Dynamic Weapon pricing means more popular the weapon, more is its price. The price of weapon is calculated on the basis of algorithm which is updated every Monday. But now, the system has been ceased in Counter Strike: Source.

Counter Strike: Source also have updated radar which is much-much better than the radar system in Counter Strike. It has more detailed view than that of in counter strike. Position of bombs being dropped can also be seen on the radar in counter strike: source. Many competitive leagues and tournaments have been organized on the basis of counter strike: source.
